To be a leading agency at national and international level among the graduate programs and higher education agencies of security sciences.
The primary goal of Security Sciences Institute (SCI) is to raise lecturers and masters at security sciences area. SCI have masters and doctoral programs; it executes scientific researches to contribute universal intellectual capacity. Besides, SCI have certificate programs special to public and private organizations. To support the aforementioned goals, SCI holds scientific meetings, symposiums, conferences, and seminars.
SCI depends on Police Academy. It initially was founded to raise middle and high managers to Turkish National Police on November 6, 1937 with the Police Organization Act numbered 3201. Throughout the years Police Institute realized transformations; in 1940 it changed into a school with two years curriculum; in 1962 it changed into a school with three years curriculum; and finally it changed into a school with four years curriculum in 1980. On December 6, 1984 Police Institute became Police Academy with four years bachelor’s degree higher education agency according to Turkish Constitution article 132 and Turkish Higher Education Act article 2. On April 25, 2001, Police Academy was reorganized to integrate into Turkish Higher Education System and became a part of InterUniversities Council. Under Police Academy structure, Police Vocational Schools of Higher Education having associate degree program, Security Sciences Faculty having Bachelor’s degree programs and Security Sciences Institute having Master’s and Doctoral degree programs were founded with the Act numbered 4652.
